Dassault reveals its latest aircraft: the flagship Falcon 8X
With this business jet with a range of 12,000 km, the French aircraft manufacturer is aiming at the preserve of Gulfstream and Bombardier.
Yet another Falcon! Only five months after the launch of its Falcon 5X, a large cabin and long-range twin-engine aircraft, on 19 May at the EBACE trade show in Geneva, Dassault Aviation revealed its new flagship: the Falcon 8X, a very long-range (12,000 km) three-jet top-of-the-range aircraft. "The 8X will become our new flagship and will represent a formidable addition to our product line", assures Eric Trappier, managing director of Dassault Aviation.Consequently, the 8X will be the most expensive in the catalogue: 55 million dollars (40.1 million euros), i.e. 10% more than the 7X. With the 8X, whose maiden flight is scheduled for the start of 2015, with initial deliveries set for the second half of 2016, the Dassault range now includes six aircraft, including three twin-engine aircraft (Falcon 2000S, 2000LXS, and 5X) and three three-jet aircraft (Falcon 900LX, 7X and 8X). |
